My story
My journey into the Russian market started back in 2007 with mutual funds, which gave me my first exposure to the local equity universe. By 2010, I was actively trading U.S. stocks, which taught me to analyze companies through a global, developed-market lens.
The pivotal shift came in 2015, when I exited funds entirely and began directly investing in Russian equities. This deep, hands-on experience — from navigating corporate disclosures to understanding local market dynamics — gave me an insider’s perspective that few international investors possess.
The “Aha!” Moment!
In 2022, the Russian market became, in my view, severely undervalued — creating a generational opportunity for those who could cut through the noise. But I also realized that high-quality, in-depth analysis of Russian equities in English was almost impossible to find. The coverage was either superficial or missing the local nuance entirely. I knew I could bridge that gap — and Siberian Alpha was born.
